CS2 FLOAT
VALUE.

Every painted item has a wear value. Here is how to read it without confusing exterior grade, pattern seed and visual condition.

01 / DEFINITION

ONE NUMBER, FROM 0 TO 1.

A float value is a decimal attached to an individual CS2 finish. Lower values generally mean less visible wear; higher values mean more. It does not change over time or through play.

LESS WEAR0.000000 1.000000MORE WEAR
02 / WEAR GRADES

THE FIVE EXTERIORS.

Most market names use one of five standard exterior grades. The boundary at exactly 0.07, for example, separates Factory New from Minimal Wear.

FNFactory New0.00—0.07

The cleanest standard exterior grade.

MWMinimal Wear0.07—0.15

Light wear with most finish detail intact.

FTField-Tested0.15—0.38

Visible wear across common contact areas.

WWWell-Worn0.38—0.45

Heavier scratches and finish loss.

BSBattle-Scarred0.45—1.00

The broadest and most worn grade.

03 / FINISH LIMITS

NOT EVERY SKIN USES THE FULL RANGE.

A paint kit defines its own minimum and maximum. AK-47 | Redline starts at 0.10, so it cannot exist in Factory New. Karambit | Doppler ends at 0.08, limiting it to Factory New and Minimal Wear.

AK-47 | Redline0.10—0.70
Karambit | Doppler0.00—0.08
AK-47 | Case Hardened0.00—1.00
04 / FLOAT VS PATTERN

WEAR IS NOT PLACEMENT.

Float controls the wear system. Pattern seed controls how a texture is positioned. Two skins can share nearly the same float while showing very different Case Hardened color distribution or Doppler phase.

FLOATHow worn?

A continuous value inside the paint kit’s allowed range.

PATTERN SEEDWhich placement?

An integer used to position or vary the finish pattern.

05 / SOURCES

HOW THIS WIKI VERIFIES DATA.

Core item relationships are normalized from the local source corpus, including paint identities, allowed wear ranges and container or collection links. Records only enter the public build after the V2 validation checks pass.

  • Canonical item and paint identities
  • Localized names, descriptions and release fields
  • Cross-checked container, collection and variant relationships

Market prices are intentionally excluded from this release until a licensed price feed and timestamp policy are connected.
